1:1 Dog Behavior Work in San Francisco and everywhere online
Personalized, ongoing behavior support for complex dogs and the people who are dedicated to helping them.
Lindsay is a certified dog behavior consultant serving San Francisco, the Bay Area, and dog guardians everywhere online. 1:1 Dog Behavior Work is a force free, science based approach to understanding and supporting behaviorally complex dogs and the people who love them.
If you are dealing with reactivity, anxiety, fear, aggression, or any behavior that feels overwhelming and hard to navigate, this is where you find out exactly what working together looks like, what you get, and how to get started.
Why 1:1 and why behavior work, not just training
There is a meaningful difference between dog training and dog behavior work, and it matters a lot when you are dealing with a complex dog.
Training, in the traditional sense, is about teaching skills. Sit, stay, loose leash walking. And while skill building is part of what we do together, it is a small part.
Behavior work goes much deeper.
It looks at why your dog is doing what they are doing, what is driving it, what in their environment, their history, their health and their daily life is contributing to the picture, and what needs to change for things to genuinely get better.
This is why I work exclusively in private 1:1 sessions. The dogs I work with are not going to benefit from a group class. They need someone who is looking at their specific situation, their specific needs, and building a plan around that. And the people I work with deserve the same level of attention.
Because helping you understand your dog, feel confident in what you are doing, and actually enjoy your life together again is just as important as anything we work on with your dog.
How it works
Step one: the initial consultation
Everything starts here. Before we can build a plan, I need to really understand your dog. Their history, their current behaviors, their environment, their health, what has been tried before, what has worked and what has not, and what your life actually looks like day to day. The initial consultation is a 90 minute Zoom session where we go through all of it together. You get to ask every question you have been sitting on. I get to start building a real picture of your dog and what they need.
After our session, you receive your fully personalized plan with clear, actionable first steps you can start using straight away. You also receive a summary of our meeting, a curated resource guide, your digital log book, and my MEET Your Dog’s Needs program guide. It is a lot, in the best possible way.
Step two: ongoing 1:1 behavior work sessions
This is where the real work happens. In our follow up sessions we work through your plan together, troubleshoot anything that has come up, adjust what needs adjusting, and build out skills and strategies as your dog progresses. Every session is private, every session is specific to where you and your dog are right now, and every session is an hour with a certified dog behavior specialist who is entirely focused on you both.
Between sessions you are encouraged to send videos for feedback, reach out with questions by email, and use your log book to track what you are noticing. You are supported throughout the process, not just during the hour we spend together.
Step three: building your dog's care team
One of the things that sets my approach apart is that I see behavior work as a collaborative effort. I work alongside your veterinarian, your veterinary behaviorist, and any other professionals involved in your dog’s care. If you do not have that team in place yet, helping you build it is part of what I do.
Good outcomes for complex dogs almost always require more than one person in the dog’s corner, and I want to make sure your dog has everyone they need.

Who this is for

The dogs I work with include those described as reactive, aggressive, anxious, fearful, shy, sensitive, shut down, or just behaviorally complex in ways that do not fit neatly into a category. I also work with senior dogs navigating behavioral changes that come with age, and dogs with medical complexity that affects their behavior.
Some of the specific behaviors I work with include on leash reactivity, barking and lunging, snapping and biting, resource guarding, separation anxiety, noise sensitivities, hyper arousal, fearfulness, handling issues, jumping, and more. I do not have restrictions on dogs with bite histories, and I do not write dogs off based on a label.
This is not the right fit if you are looking for a basic manners course, puppy socialization classes, or a one-off session. The work I do requires ongoing commitment, and the results reflect that.
After 2 weeks with Lindsay, we feel confident in our approach and Morty’s improved temperament
We had a great experience with Lindsay at Good Dog Happy Dog!
Her attention to detail, care, and patience helped my husband and I better take care of our 3-year old rescue, Morty. She listened to our needs (leash reactivity, recall, etc) and helped us feel more comfortable as new dog parents.
Our daily walks with Morty are now much more stress free and more fun for Morty!
There is still work to be done, but after 2 weeks with Lindsay, we feel confident in our approach and Morty’s improved temperament.
If you’re looking for a dog trainer, we highly recommend Lindsay. 🙂

Provided us with valuable advice so we could feel confident in progressing his training on our own.
I would highly recommend Lindsay’s dog training services more. She is a very compassionate and calming individual for both dogs and humans.
My partner and I had a lot of difficultly acclimating our 10 month old Jindo rescue to the urban environment.
Lindsay immediately established a rapport with him while respecting his boundaries and helped us build his confidence.
She also provided us with valuable advice so we could feel confident in progressing his training on our own.
We would gladly use her services again for any future additions to our family.
