It’s summer in San Francisco!

I’m writing this on September 8th and we are now day two into Summer! Yes, SF summer. What a funny little weather pattern we have here but one that rolls around every year that I get so excited about! It’s finally starting to get warm in the city, no need for your puffy parka or fleece lined coat. Because habits are strong, I still bring out a layer where I go, but may not actually need to wear it. It’s awesome! Because of this, September and October in the city becomes alive with tons of events and outdoor festivals, people enjoy eating outside without feeling like they are dressed for winter, and I think people just generally seem to be in higher spirits. This magical window of nice weather and even some truly warm nights doesn’t last long and you need to take advantage of it when it’s here.

To this, I’m not exactly doing much without my dog these days. He’s 15 and has multiple medical things going on that requires more frequent potty breaks and some confusion at times. He’s still loving every outing, enjoys every sniff and truly has only become even more cool, chill and delightful in his senior years. But I also don’t want to leave him home alone. I feel so lucky to have him by my side! But life is short and I’m wanting to take advantage of this gorgeous weather while also meeting my dogs needs and filling my cup. I got inspired to start the Senior Stroll to do just this.

So let’s do this! Let’s get out!

What’s the Senior Stroll? Basic premise is a group outing for senior dogs and their dedicated guardians. We are focusing on senior and geriatric dogs so think outside sniffing, ambling, possibly even napping or resting along the way. Let’s raise a little money for a senior dog organization. Let’s chat about senior dogs and how we can best fill their cups, while also not draining yours. This isn’t a formal consultation, but rather and opportunity to discuss all things senior dogs. Bring your questions if you have them, or simply bring your senior pup out for some fresh air.

I’ve chosen Tunnel Tops in the Presidio as our first location as it offers plenty of good sniffy opportunities for the dogs, walking paths that are either paved or packed dirt to accommodate wheel chairs or other mobility devices, and more stability for our aging pups joints. We’re keeping this mellow and easy for both humans and dogs alike so a few house keeping things to make sure it goes smoothly. Please be sure all dogs attending are spayed or neutered, they generally get along with other dogs and humans, and remain on leash as this is an on leash section of the park. We’re not going to be winning any speed awards, so please keep your puppies and high energy dogs at home. Strollers, wheelchairs, and all mobility aids are welcome – for dog and human alike. Humans of all ages welcome!

Senior Stroll.. or amble, or cart, or possibly just nap

So join us! Sunday September 27th at 11:00am. We’ll meet at Tunnel Tops in the presidio, just outside the visitor center on Lincoln Blvd across from the food trucks. $10 Registration fee with proceeds going to Muttville Senior Dog Rescue

Any questions? Email me! Sound like fun? Join us! Register today!

See you at the park!

There is such a strong pull from people to cling to doing sessions in person. It's what they see and hear about. most people conjure up thoughts of group classes with dogs lined up holding down stays, or walking in circles nicely around each other on some large open...
